Rain…

Last night was an incredible experience.

Throughout the month of March, God had been telling me to pray with authority and command the weather to be what would be best for the film shoot. All month, for every outdoor scene, it seemed we were always against the strong chance of rain or harsh wind.

God told me to pray, so I did. I’d raise my hands to the skies, hoping nobody saw me – not for fear of being mocked, but rather for fear of being “religious” – and command the clouds in Jesus’ name to cease raining when it was time to shoot.

I saw God give us great favor. I saw forecasts be denied and our shoots go ahead mostly unfettered.

Then tonight happened. I felt God say, “Pray for what I want.” I still prayed against the rain, and felt He encouraged me to do so, but I felt Him whisper, “Tonight’s going to be different.” I had envisioned that there could be a moment where I would dramatically pray against the rain and it would stop for all to see – an obvious miracle!

“No, no,” God chuckled. “Just get out there and film in it.”

I was unsure. None of the other connected scenes had rain, though some scenes did have numerous puddles in the street where it had been raining just hours before we had arrived.

Then I remembered, in the scene leading into this moment, that Harper states: “We’ll be at the location in thirty minutes.” Thirty minutes – more than enough time for weather to change. The rest of the connected scenes had all been cloudy and gloomy… just not rainy.

So I said, “Okay, then, let’s just do it.”

And we got this amazing sequence that wouldn’t have happened if God had answered my prayers this time and held back the rain.
